Airy-Looking DIY Kitchen Open Shelving

Airy Looking DIY Kitchen Open Shelving

Open shelving is great for any space because besides being a good storage idea, it doesn’t look bulky. To make these kitchen shelves, buy nice, chunky 2×12 cut it down to 30″ for the shelves. Give it a nice rubdown with some Danish oil in the “natural” color. It’s meant to just bring out the natural tones of the wood and highlight the pretty veins and imperfections. It really brings the wood to life, as cheesy as it sounds. Let the wood dry completely (it only takes about 30 minutes before you can wipe off the extra oil, then 8 hours before you actually use it). Find out how to install the shelves here.
