I love these, they give me so many ideas of what to do with my storage space!

#8: Brilliant! I’m having a cutie-tootie love affair with the way that this was sleekly aligned with the angle of the stringer! Makes adorable fit-for-the-whole-family sized cubbies!

#33: What’s best about #33 – especially from the absolutely-dreadfully-out-of-necessity-frugal perspective – is that TRAY for the shoes & boots!

#34: I love how this design accounts for the need to have multiple people grabbing shoes, coats, umbrellas & hats as they prepare to leave the house together. Good point!

#36: MORE beautiful under-the-stairway cubby ideas! The only important point to make about this is that adding this design to your home requires some restructuring of your staircase, since the edges of the cubbies are right up against the risers & treads, the stringers have been adjusted – and they’re THE structural component to holding your stairs in mid-air!

#39: Here we go with another fantastically frugal design! Throw in some stackable file bins on casters, then just add a wall shelf & throw up some hooks, as many as you can fit – VOILA!

#41: Attach some sliding/retractable bins and you’ve got yourself a great, economical way to tuck those shoes & keep them off the floor!

#43: Fiscally & physically frugal! What a solution for the low-budget, tight-spaced family!

#44: COOL! The chest might cost some, depending on where you buy, but a chest can be picked up at a Thrift Store! What else is there? Add some cubes, tack on simple photo frames & it’s DONE & AWESOME!

#45: You keep on hitting home runs for the fiscally-savvy and the tight-spaced. Oh, and LOOK – there’s another shoe/boot tray to keep the floor clean!

    #50: LOVE the squeezed-in built-in under-the-stairway in-wall storage cubbies.

Here’s my personal tip as an architectural professional: When you start renovating your mudroom space – and by “renovation,” it could be as simple as the day that you do spring cleaning and start rearranging the worn-out space arrangement. Maybe you can add some extra time & thought and, by following this tip, be done with ever having to rearrange that space again – AND clean it up less, too! Those shoe/boot trays, in my mind, are a MUST-HAVE for all mudroom spots… even if it lines the bottom of your closet! But the #1 thing to program into your mind is: picture those days when the weather will be at its worst again – remember the worst storms of the past few years – and plan AMPLY (if you fiscally & physically can) for the gear that will occupy it in ALL FOUR SEASONS – winter gear is extensive, probably most extensive of all, so that might be your starting point.
