How To Renovate Kitchen Cabinets In Provence Style

How To Make Provence Kitchen Cabinets

We are about to show you how you can change the look of kitchen cabinets using paint and stained glass. On pictures you can find how a classic wooden kitchen furniture become a charming furniture in colors of Provence. Now it creates an atmosphere of perpetual summer and a hot south of France.

To change the appearance of kitchen cabinets the technique of artificial aging was used. The technique is called crackle. Between two layers of paint (gold and blue) a special hydrophilic coating was applied. Thanks to it the top blue layer cracks through and makes gold color visible. Using a hair dryer you can change the aging effect from soft to intense.

Crackle Technique Instructions

First of all you need to polish surfaces using fine-grained sandpaper. Next you need to paint them in gold. After a while, when the paint isn’t completely dry, but doesn’t leave marks on your arm, a special clear coating should be applied. After about 30 minutes apply a coat of blue paint. It should start to crack after a minute. To complete the makeover you should apply at least two coats of clear semi-gloss varnish. Thanks to it you’ll be able to clean the cabinets.
