We’ve already showed you a bunch of cool ideas how you can use tree stumps in your interior but we want to show you some more. Tree stumps are cool because you can make so many useful things from them by yourself. For example you can make chairs, side tables, trays, lamps and so on. Check out this gallery and you’ll see what are we talking about.

    Hello,
I really like the design of your tree stump tray. I have tried to make a similar design but the wood always ends up cracking after a week or so after cutting it.
What do you do to prevent the cracking?
    Thanks,
    Jordan

  2. Fliss Marsh Says:

In response to Jordon re the wood cracking, it is due to the tensionas the outer part of the ring dries and shrinks more than the inner part. You can help prevent by waxing the outer edge and surfaces while the center dries. It can be sped up a little by using a microwave for smaller pieces or hairdryer focused on the center. Good luck with projects

  3. Kathy L. Says:

If you are using wood from a tree on your own land and can control when it will be cut, remove a ring of bark at the base and leave it to die and dry for a year or two before cutting the tree down (you can top the tree, just leave the trunk standing). When you do finally take the tree down, it will have dried without splits and should stay that way.
