DIY Coffee Table Of An Old Window And Two Crates
Do you care about the Environment? If so then you should reuse things. Here is a coffee table that is made only of stuff that people usually throw away. It’s made of two apple crates and an old window. It can be disassembled very easily even though it’s fixed to the crates. If you use thick window then such table would be able to withstand a lot. It’s a very nice furniture piece to place in your living room that is easy, cheap and fast to make.

Not to be a naysayer but most older windows use what is called ‘double strength’ (DS) glass which isn’t strong enough to serve as a safe edge-supported tabletop. Were someone to accidentally fall into it there’s no chance the glass would support the weight and they’d wind up going through it.
I personally wouldn’t consider anything less than 1/4″ glass safe for a table and lean strongly toward 3/8″ if it has larger spans.
Just $0.02 from a guy who used to cut glass.

Thank you so much for your input, Scott. I was hot-to-trot to make this happen in my own living room. Now I will NOT! I’d hate for a grandchild to fall through my coffee table.
This is definitely an ‘adults only’ coffee table.
But a beautiful idea!

Weak glass?? Thanks only the tip of the iceberg! What about lead paint flakes, toxic window glaze and whatever those crates/pallets were sitting in during their “aging” process. Why not just feed your kids and guests poison and get it done!
