It isn’t hard to buy built-in shelving nowadays. There are plenty of designs to chose from but those that has mid-century modern design could be quite expensive. iVillage has found a cheap way to make an industrial and minimalist shelving unit and I’m happy to share it with you. You’ll need floor flanges, threaded pipes and pipe boards for that. On the picture above you can see how to connect them all. Depending on desired size you can chose nipples and pipes of the length you need. The best way to assemble the unit is to do that on the floor as if the shelves are lying on their backs. Just make sure you have a strong friend because lifting up the unit might be quite difficult.
